About This Calculator
Perfectly Timed Rice Every Time
Whether you are cooking Jasmine, Basmati, or Brown rice, timing is crucial. Most high-end rice cookers feature a delay timer, but calculating the offset can be tricky.
This tool helps you account for soaking time and cooking cycles so your rice is fresh and hot exactly when you want to eat.
How to Use With Your Machine
1. Check Your Mode: Zojirushi and Tiger cookers often ask for the 'Finish Time' directly. If so, just use common sense! But if your model asks for 'Delay Time' (hours/minutes until start), use our Finish At mode to calculate the delay.
2. Enter Your Eating Time: Set the time you want the rice to be ready.
3. Set the Delay: Input the calculated delay into your machine and press Start.
Pro Tips for Better Rice
Brown Rice: Needs more water and longer cooking time. Always check your manual.
Soaking: Japanese rice tastes best when soaked for 30 minutes before cooking. If your machine's cycle doesn't include a soak phase, add this to your duration.
Keep Warm: Rice starts to lose quality after 12 hours on 'Keep Warm'. Try to time it precisely.
